Twitter will now allow users to receive direct messages from anyone

Twitter is making a big change in its direct messaging feature, allowing users the option to receive direct messages from any other Twitter user.

Previously, Twitter only allowed for direct messages to be sent to people who followed each other on the service. Now users can make a change in their settings to allow anyone to message them. This option is opt-in only, so you don’t have to do anything if you want to keep things the way they are.
