Spotlight in OS X El Capitan is getting better with a focus on contextual searches. For example, one could search for documents from a specific time period, say “documents from June,” and Spotlight will turn up with any documents written during that month. In addition, users can now search for sports scores and weather right in the window, at which point Spotlight will pull the relevant information. Finally, users can now perform Spotlight searches within apps and Finder as well.
