How to send a message with Siri on Apple Watch

Want to dash a quick message off to your friends? Use Siri on your Apple Watch to get the job done.

When you’re on the go and want to quickly reply or initiate a conversation to a friend, family member, or passing contact, you can use Siri on your Apple Watch to take care of it all.

How to send a message using Siri on your Apple Watch

  1. To activate Siri, either say “Hey Siri” after you wake your Apple Watch, or press the Digital Crown.
  2. You can send a text message to someone a couple of different ways, depending on your hands-free requirements.
    1. To initiate a message with your voice, say “Send a message to [contact/phone number]”. This will then bring you to the traditional Messages interface, where you can send a quick reply, emoji, and voice or text message.
    2. To avoid tapping, you can send the entire message in one fell swoop, like this: “Tell [my friend] We’re going out for sushi later period want to join question mark”. You’ll see a preview of your message, at which point you can either tap it to send, or say “Hey Siri, send”.

How to reply to a message using Siri on your Apple Watch

You can also reply to messages using Siri.

  1. When the notification comes in, you can respond to it one of two ways:
    1. Say “Hey Siri, reply” to bring up the Messages interface.
    2. Say “Hey Siri, reply [message], then Hey Siri, send to do the whole thing hands-free.

  2. You can also reply if you don’t have “Hey Siri” turned on by holding down the Digital Crown and saying “reply” or “reply [message].
