Groupon adds Apple Watch support for deal alerts and quick payments

Groupon has added support for the Apple Watch, which will let its users scan and purchase deals for all kinds of products and services.

The latest company to join the Apple Watch bandwagon is Groupon. The online coupon and deals company has updated its iOS app to include support for Apple’s first smartwatch. As with other Apple Watch apps, the Groupon version requires that the iPhone version be running before it can be used. Here’s what Groupon says can be done with its Apple Watch app:

With Apple Watch, now you can get deals right on your dial. Wherever you are, the Groupon app alerts you to offers nearby, locates other select deals for you to browse, and lets you buy with just a few taps—all from your wrist!

According to TechCrunch, Groupon plans to add more features to the Apple Watch app in the future, including Glances support and a way to actually redeem the vouchers that are purchased in the app. Currently, the iPhone still needs to be used to redeem purchased vouchers.
