Apple names Steve Dowling as Vice President of Communications

In an update to its executive profiles page today, Apple has named Steve Dowling as its new Vice President of Communications.

Dowling was previously a broadcast journalist at CNBC before joining Apple in 2003 where he would come to lead the company’s public relations team for ten years. Dowling was previously named as Apple’s interim head of public relations in October of 2014 after previous VP of Communications, Katie Cotton retired from her position earlier that year.

With Dowling’s move to Vice President of Communications, he will report directly to Tim Cook as the company continues in its efforts to be more open and approachable on the PR front.
